Can anyone give me a site where I can get free legal advice for divorce?

Depending on what state and county you live in there are usually services provided by your local governemnt. Ofcourse that depends on your financial sitution. If there is huge amounts of money involved then you will want to consult a reputable private attorney; and if there is alot of money involved you can probably afford it. As for as children and custody go; those issues are standard in most states these days and the money you have for an attorney will not dictate how the court decides custody/child support issues. Can anyone give me a site where I can get free legal advice for divorce?
Dear Friend,

Hiring a lawyer for minor legal problems can be expensive, but there are websites like LawGuru, FindLaw and other places where you can get free legal advice. I found this website useful - http://www.uelp.org/freelegal.htmlCan anyone give me a site where I can get free legal advice for divorce?
You can get it from me, but i'm only a law student, so i'm not allowed yet.

I found a great site, however!

Best of luck with everything.
The best site I've seen is divorce source.com,has all state statutes as well.Good luck

Can anyone tell me where I can find free legal advice on divorce?

My husband left me two days ago without warning with all the bills

due and overdue and I have no job and no money and no trans-portation to go be with his ex-girlfriend. HELP!!!Can anyone tell me where I can find free legal advice on divorce?
there should be legal advice online. Can anyone tell me where I can find free legal advice on divorce?
Start calling some lawyers offices, sometimes you can find one how will give you a free consoltation.
www.prairielaw.com
pick your self up and go apply for public assistance.call volunteer lawyers.go find a job and make him pay for the divorce.and save all the bills.you pay ,and call all the places you owe money to.apply for section 8 housing.then go find somebody that loves you for you.good luck,
Any bill in his name-do NOT pay them. Anything in your name, try to pay. Definitely call the creditors for the bills in your name and tell then the situation. They'd prefer to help you rather than have you default and cause them grief. If you have utility bills in his name, call up and start new accounts in your name and leave the ones in his name unpaid. Just tell them that he no longer lives there and you'd like to have them switched on in your name instead. Unpaid bills in his name will be his problem, not yours.

I did something bad at work and i need legal advice...?

I worked for a company for 2 years. and my mom died a year ago and when she died i started to ring things out without ringing it up. i did this for a year and i was really depressed im only 22. i have never done anything wrong to get in to trouble with the law my whole life. now im scared and i kno i have to change. i cant belive i got so depressed. anyways i got a letter today saying that i owe 10,000. i cant do that. i can make payments but not in full. my sisters husband is a lawyer and he said its a fourth degree felonie and i will probaly get probation.. if i go to court. im confused and scared cause im not that person anymore and im better and happier and im over the fact that my mother died and i kno i deserve some punishment. ive beat myself up for it so many times... i jus want someone to hinestly let me kno that I am not going to jail. since this is the first and last time i have ever done something like this

please help meI did something bad at work and i need legal advice...?
My first piece of advice would be to consult a lawyer, but you have done that and are still not sure. I am not a lawyer, but I do know a little about the law.

You can go to jail, there is no doubt about it.

If you are honestly ashamed about your crimes and you want to at least try to make payments then you can get probation. Think about it, if you are in jail you can't make any money to pay what you owe. If you are free and want to make payments then the company has at least a chance of recovering part of its losses.

Since, you don't have a criminal record the judge will be more likely to let you off on probation. If you start making some payments before trial then the chances improve. Your sister's husband gave you some advice, I strongly suggest that you get him to help you and even appear at trial with you.

Without a lawyer you don't have the knowledge or power to make a decent deal and you have a good chance of ending up in jail.

If you get probation, an it is more likely for a crime like this than other criminal acts, then part of that probation requirement will probably be a threat of a jail sentence if you DON'T make payments.I did something bad at work and i need legal advice...?
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...you did the crime...either pay or do the time...funny if you were so honest why doesn't your Lawyer brother-in-law lwnd you the money?
If you show true sincerity, they might just let you off the hook.

I know I had done one thing that was really...uh...stupid...and the cops did not ticket me or anything. They even filed it as not my fault. Why? Because they could tell I was a nice person by looking at my records. There was nothing wrong on it.

I believe you when you say you have done nothing bad and if a judge can take that into consideration that everyone makes mistakes, then maybe he will let you with minimum price. (Like making you pay 500 dollars a month to the company.) Then you forget it and move on.

Good luck, hun and I hope it works out.
Nobody can tell you that you won't go to jail. The best anyone can say is what your brother-in-law told you. You will probably get probation and will have to make a payment agreement. If you refuse the payment agreement, or can't make sufficient payments as determined by the judge, you will go to jail. It will help if you can get a psychiatric evaluation and enter that report into the court record.

Should lawyers provide moral and ethical guidance to clients, in addition to legal advice and representation?

In general is not necessary. It is not compulsary that Lawyers must needfully give mental counsel to their clients. Lawyers are experts and they excell in giving moral advice to their clients. To know more informations about lawyers visit the link below.

http://www.thetourism.biz/tourismspots.h鈥?/a>Should lawyers provide moral and ethical guidance to clients, in addition to legal advice and representation?
';compartmentalization of ethics'; explains it all, there is the real ';truth'; and there is the professional ';truth';. In other words, you can only be immoral, if your profession requires it. That's why tehy also call lawyers ';whores of teh legal profession';. The other oldest profession is far more honorable :DShould lawyers provide moral and ethical guidance to clients, in addition to legal advice and representation?
Do you personally know any lawyers that are ethical?

Perry Mason was a fictional character.
As a general rule no. Lawyers are not mental health counselors. Many lawyers have problems of their own, what makes them experts at giving moral and ethical advice to anyone? That's like asking Donald Trump for the name of his hairdressor. You want your hair looking like that?

  • If I stood outside the courthouse telling everyone to plead not-guilty would that quailify as ';Legal advice'; ?

Here's the general difference between legal information and legal advice.

Suppose I tell you that the tort of negligence requires that you have a duty of care, that you generally must act as a reasonable person in the situation, and that if you breach your duty of care such that the breach results in someone else being harmed. That's legal information. I've defined the elements of negligence.

Now suppose I tell you that your duty in this particular situation is X-Y-Z, and that in this particular situation your actions were or were not a breach. Suppose I further tell you that to defeat a claim against you for negligence in this particular situation, you would need to prove or disprove A-B-C facts. That's legal advice, because it pertains directly to your specific situation, and because it analyzes your particular rights and obligations in the situation.

If I told everyone to plead not-guilty, without knowing anything about their situation, that wouldn't be giving information particular to their situation. However, if they reasonably relied upon my statements, it could affect their rights and obligations.

It's a running joke that whenever you ask an attorney a question, the initial answer is ';it depends';. That's because legal advice analyzes an outcome (liability, guilt, etc) depending upon many specific facts. If the answer doesn't depend on any facts, and isn't specific definition of rights and obligations, then it probably wouldn't be considered legal advice.

The line between them matters, because a non-lawyer can provide legal information. However, providing legal advice without a license may constitute unauthorized practice of law.If I stood outside the courthouse telling everyone to plead not-guilty would that quailify as ';Legal advice'; ?
no exactly, but they may find you donig something else wrong- stay homeIf I stood outside the courthouse telling everyone to plead not-guilty would that quailify as ';Legal advice'; ?
    are you a lawyer?
    yea
perhaps you should do it from the bottom of a cliff

    get it?
You could try that... Probly depended which court house you stood out front of. Alot are the Kangaroo courts. (slang for Minds already made up)
YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING RIGHT!
Maybe you could qualify it by wearing a tee-shirt that says: ';The information you obtain from me is not, nor is it intended to be, legal advice.'; That's what all those websites do.
    funny
Not unless they asked you what they should do.

You will need to register your company name with

the local authorities like the companies registry or

    similar office where you live.

You should keep some alternative names ready.

When you give them your first choice of name,

they should do the name search through their

Legal advice re overpayment at work issue

Hi folks, this is what the letter says.

    ';I left employment at firm X on 4th June 2008 and received final salary in 27th June 2008. You were overpaid due to taking 13 days annual leave that you had not accrued and 2.5 days sick leave that we were unable to deduct from your final salary. This means that you owe X 拢1,031.03 after deduction of tax and NI.';

Now, they are threatning legal action against me in form of CCJ.

I was wondering if i make them a payment offer of 拢20 p/m. Would this be something they have to accept? I can say that given my finances, this is all i can afford to pay?

Second, i don't understand the 2.5 sick day concept as this firm didn't pay you sick pay and so i don't understand how they can claim that?

    What are my options

Advice much appreciated in this circumstances Legal advice re overpayment at work issue
you would have to pay them the full amout.

Legal advice re overpayment at work issue
If you have been overpaid in wages then you are required to pay it back to the employer. Did you take off 13 days of leave? Did you take off 2.5 days of sick leave? If you did miss this time from work, and if the pay for those days was not deducted from your paychecks during that pay period then you have been overpaid. If you can show records for the timeframe in question and show that the time missed was deducted from your paychecks then you can argue the repayment issue.
    Hi

you approach to their demand is something acceptable. It is because the firm X cannot ask you to pay the full amount in one off payment. If you say you can pay only 拢20 a month, make a budget to prove that with all your income. (You do not have to reveal all your sources of income. just the main is sufficient)

as you would appreciate, if you are over paid, the firm X can claim that money. However, since it is not your fault, you would not be required to pay full amount at once.

Before you think about court proceedings, write them a letter (by recorded delivery) asking explanation/clarification/breakdown of the money you owe to them. Then you can get a clear picture about the situation. Further, the money you owe them might go down significantly, as at this stage they are doing the second audit. in addition, work out how many holidays you were entitled for that financial/tax year, how many sick pays etc etc and work out how many holidays you had taken at the firm X.

first things first, you write a letter to them asking further clarification/breakdown as soon as possible as mentioned earlier. Send it by recorded delivery to the right person with their reference numbers etc etc.

this letter will be very important just in case go to courts. If you do not communicate with them, it is very likely you are going to be penalized for ignoring their requests and wasting of court鈥檚 time and money.

    Hope this info is OK

in addition you can call in to citizens鈥?advice bureau in your area

  • Do any of you know where I can get free legal advice on the web?

This is the one I use. You can post your question and attorneys will answer if it is their area of expertise. Just like any forum though you may get one or more answers or none it just depends but it has proven useful to me in the past.

http://www.avvo.com/Do any of you know where I can get free legal advice on the web?
There is a ton 'o free legal information on the web. Just google ';[your state] [area of law].'; Many, many law office websites offer articles on numerous areas of law. Most states have their state codes (laws) and recent cases online.

If you need personalized advice, that is what attorneys are for. It is unethical for an attorney to get involved with anyone without checking for conflicts--thus the need for a consultation.Do any of you know where I can get free legal advice on the web?

But, remember: You get what you pay for. Any advise from a ';free'; site is as good as the money you paid for the advise.

I need some legal advice. My soon to be exhusband is trying to take me to court for child custody...?

I moved back to the states from Germany in April (he is in the army). I moved in with my father. I used my tax return to buy a car and the $400 in child support to buy my son food and a stroller etc... Well because of problems with my family I've moved around a lot....at least once a month. So my mother offered to take my son while I got everything settled down. I said yes. Shortly after that, a not so well chosen friend decided she didnt agree with my parenting...or me. So she called CPS and an investigation was started. They found the accusations unjustified, but still asked me to sign temporary custody to my mother and complete parenting classes. I made it to 3 of the 4, i missed the last one because my grandmother became ill and I had to help my family move her from CA to TX. Now...about my ex. While I was in Germany, after we got a separation agreement, he moved into the barracks and I kept our apt. I had to call him multiple times a day to take me to the commissary, andI need some legal advice. My soon to be exhusband is trying to take me to court for child custody...?
he can do all he wants no court in this country or germany would take a child away from a mother especialy since he will not be able to b the primary care giver unless he leaves the army its not like he can hire a baby sitter when he deploys. ps if ur seperated u loose all your commisary and px privlages although tri care will still be availible for the childI need some legal advice. My soon to be exhusband is trying to take me to court for child custody...?
Your question ends right when you start talking about your ex. Can you add more details?
I feel very bad for your child. It sounds like no one in this picture, not you, your mother, or your husband is really concerned with him.

You need to make a list of what is MOST important to you. Right now it doesn't sound like your son is #1 on that list as he should be.

Get a job. Now. I don't care if it's at McDonald's full-time, just get it ASAP so you can get your child back.

Once you have your child back then ask your ex to pay child support. The court will award it even if the custody agreement has not been settled yet. They should grant it to you at least temporarily.

Stop relying on your ex-spouse to do ANYTHING. It sounds like you are waiting for him to notice that he has a child who needs him. FORGET IT! He doesn't care about the child, you said that yourself several times, so forget about him. Raising this kid is up to you and that's it. You had him on a schedule. You got him off the bottle and on to a cup. You're the only one in this picture who is even trying to be a parent so keep it up! All you'll be able to get out of your ex is a little money. He'll probably never get the furniture shipped over to you so go to the thrift stores when you get paid and by some furniture bit by bit.

Find out if there is Section 8 housing in your state and apply. Get food stamps and any other help from the Fed and State that you can. Find out if any churches in your area have Food Banks. Look to groups for help until you make some friends.

Don't trust your mom or your ex. Sounds like they are ganging up against you to take your child away. Like I said, get a job at the nearest fast food place and start a new life without them in order to get your son back.

Find out if there is free legal aide in your town or state.

Oh, the car. Sell the car for parts and buy a used Toyota or Honda.

I'm sorry your family seems to be a lousy one. You can do this on your own. You and your son are your new family now. Once you make some friends you can trust they will be your new family too.

Make a list of all these things to do and DO THEM. God bless you.
To start with your answer, Mr. Roberts is way off base. You will not lose your commissary or PX priveleges as long as you are still married and are in legal possession of your dependents I.D. card.

As to your situation, you should contact a legal aid attorney since it sounds as though you cannot afford an attorney to handle your situation. You can contact your local court house or county attorney's office for names of legal aid attorneys who can assist you.

As to your husband and his part in this mess. You should as soon as you have an appointment with an attorney give them your husbands address and where the name of his Commanding Officer. The attorney can send a letter to the Command and request assistance in dealing with your husband. He is required under Military Law to support his dependents and is evidently not doing that. When I filed for divorce from my ex-wife, I had to provide support for her and my two children until the divorce and then I provided child support and medical/dental for the children.

You definitely need to contact his command and request assistance from there. You can also contact the nearest Reserve or National Guard Center and talk to their Seargent Major or other Senior Enlisted and see what they suggest for you do to.

Best of Luck in your situtation.

P.S. Ask the attorney to assist you in seeing your children or getting a new caregiver for the children until the situation is processed through the courts.

I NEED LEGAL ADVICE ON THE PROPERTY I BOUGHT IN BANGLORE.?

I bought this apartment, actually the couple had to pay me money and they couldn鈥檛 pay me so i had no choice but to take the property in platinum city at Bangalore.

i have a sales purchase agreement attested by the Indian consulate in dubai as both the parties are in dubai, and i also have the power of attorney, but the problem is that they are not vacating the property now, the ladies brother is living there and he is not moving out,

    what should i do?

I NEED LEGAL ADVICE ON THE PROPERTY I BOUGHT IN BANGLORE.?
The sale purchase agreement signed by both parties %26amp; attested by the Indian Consulate in Dubai (Notral power) will not give you the ownership of the property in dispute. The Titles of this property still exist in the name of the original owner who entered in agreement to sell this property to you. There is no sale deed with regard to this property nor there is any change in title with regard to this property in your favor which is possible when the sale deed get properly registered with the legal authority/registrar responsible for the Registration of the property under the provisions of the enactment made for the place where it is located. Considering all these facts in this case I feel you are still in square no # 1 from where you started, just take this sale agreement document to the person who gave to %26amp; return it after taking your money back from them, if they refuse then ask them to come along with you to India %26amp; get the property transferred in your favor by proper procedure not like they did while sitting in Dubai. Even the power of attorney which they may have given to you may not be acceptable by the Registrar %26amp; he may require the presence of the seller before he register the Sale Deed thereby transfering the title of the property in your favour. I know all of my replies in this forum are specifically blunt that these make people asking them annoyed as they are only looking for flowery replies which I as a Lawyer cannot give but tell only the correct legal position with regard to their case %26amp; facts.I NEED LEGAL ADVICE ON THE PROPERTY I BOUGHT IN BANGLORE.?

I have court tomorrow but I don't have a lawyer,What will happen ? can i ask for a new court dateWho can I ask for legal advice?
Never, NEVER talk to prosecutors without a lawyer present. I've seen plenty of clients cheated by prosecutors. If you can afford a lawyer, ask the judge for a new court date and get one. If you can't, they will appoint a public defender, which in my experience are extremely capable. Who can I ask for legal advice?
It's pretty dumb to wait until the last minute before seeking legal advise, i mean you had to know you had this date coming, dummy. If this is a misdemeanor case then try to see the prosecutor before your case is called and either try to make a deal or ask the judge for a continuance. Sometimes prosecutors will work with you, just depends on how you present yourself. If it is felony don't talk to the prosecutor, wait until you are called before the bench and hope the judge will give you a continuance
Only an attorney can provide legal advice. It is against the law for anyone else to provide legal advice.

I need emergency family law legal advice concearning my son and custody?

wife dropped son at doorstep tonight, need to know how to file the paperwork for an exparte hearing tommorowI need emergency family law legal advice concearning my son and custody?
better get up bright and early and head to your lawyer's officeI need emergency family law legal advice concearning my son and custody?
Been there and done that, almost. I had to file an emergency temporary custody order for my kids when my ex (we were separated at the time) tried to take my girls and not give them back. I had a lawyer and the financial support of my mom. I would go to the courthouse and ask the circuit clerk for the paperwork to file a motion for emergency temporary custody based on abandonment. Fill out the paperwork, pay a filing fee ($165 in Alabama, different in each state), and get it signed by the judge. For me, this included my lawyer tracking the judge down, explaining the necessity of her signature right that moment, and driving across the county to the restaurant she was having lunch in to get her signature. It's a lot, but it's worth it. That's what my lawyer did for me in a matter of a couple of hours. Have your child's social security number handy. Hope this helps.
Go to your lawyer first thing in the morning and file full custody of your son. You tell him that your wife abandoned your child. What a horrible mother. You have a great chance on winning since she just gave up her son to you. Don't do this alone, you need a lawyer.
i wish i knew the exact answer to ur question but all i can suggest is u call a lawyer first thing in the a.m. and find how legistics of it all , time frames, paper work etc.. i say time frames because i doubt seriously they'd consider it abandonment based on her dropping ur son off with u for only 1 night.. so u really need to find out the particulars from a lawyer..

Legal advice re overpayment at work issue
    Hi

you approach to their demand is something acceptable.

If you have been overpaid in wages then you are required to pay it back to the employer. Did you take off 13 days of leave? Did you take off 2.5 days of sick leave? If you did miss this time from work, and if the pay for those days was not deducted from your paychecks during that pay period then you have been overpaid. If you can show records for the timeframe in question and show that the time missed was deducted from your paychecks then you can argue the repayment issue.

What should the Dr. do, and what is the legal basis for the advice?

    OK... say....

Patient Paula doesnt want her boyfriend to know she's getting an abortion, so she asks Dr. Bob to send all communications to her to a post office and to phone her only at work. What should Dr. Bob do, and what is the legal basis for your advice? If she tells Dr. Bob that not doing this will endanger her, would your answer be different? What should the Dr. do, and what is the legal basis for the advice?
In the US, HIPAA laws prevent the doctor from releasing any info about her to anyone without her written consent. Not only can the doctor not release her info, he can't even answer yes or no to the question ';Is Paula a patient of yours?'; if the boyfriend called and asked. So there is no other answer. What should the Dr. do, and what is the legal basis for the advice?
A doctor has to follow the rule of doctor-patient confidentiality. Without a signed consent, the doctor cannot release Paula's medical information to anyone. Paula has the option to inform the doctor's staff how to contact her - it's none of their business what the address and telephone number correspond to. Since Dr. Bob, cannot release any information anyway, whether or not she would be endangered is irrelevant.

I need legal advice on guy 19 preg 15 girl and now baby is here and he does not want to go to jail for?

statutory rape so he is playing the part he moved her in and he is not happy how can he be with his child legally without going to jail for statutory rape and be a good dad like 6 months out of the year?I need legal advice on guy 19 preg 15 girl and now baby is here and he does not want to go to jail for?
Legally he can't do anything. The proof is there that he had sex with a minor (the baby is 100% proof).

But, if the relationship isn't working out then all he can do is discuss it with the girl and her parents. Maybe come to some agreement about child support and visitation. And then he can cross his fingers and hope that they don't decide to press charges.I need legal advice on guy 19 preg 15 girl and now baby is here and he does not want to go to jail for?
You can't ';play the part'; of being a dad for ';6 months a year'; and be a GOOD dad.

Being a GOOD dad takes being a dad 365 days a year and 24 hours a day and doing the best job of it that you can do.

    I can't give you any legal advice but...what was it Beretta used to say: ';If you can't do the time don't do the crime...';

You're stuck, Bud, pack your bag for prison, that's why we have laws, as a nation of laws, so this doesn't happen, and if it does society gets to exercise its right to punish the offense against the 15 year old child and society.
he can't; you play you pay
If he didn't want to go to jail, he shouldn't have nailed a 15 year old. Only a loser would want to date someone that young.
if he shows attachment to the child and a committment to support the child and mother by finance or by staying together then this will be part of his mitigation.
Depends on your state law. They are different. In Texas there is an exception to the law, if they guy is I think 4 years or less age difference between the girl and she wanted him also then he is not prosecuted. Search the internet for State statutory rape law.
She would have to list unknown father and have it proved later via DNA test that he is the father and added to the birth certificate. Once she is 18 or 19 I do not believe charges can be filed on the father of the child. On that one it may be wise to consult an attorney just for clarification, which shouldn't cost too much.
Build a time machine; go back and then do not sleep with an underage girl.

Other than that, you may well be in the same position that you put the 15 year old girl in very shortly, if you know what I mean. LOL
There's no such thing as being a good dad six months of the year. He should not have sex with minors. I do not care whether he is happy or not - should have thought things through before bringing a child into the world.
