I need legal advice regarding my apartment complex and water bill.?

Our office receives our water bill and then bills us. Our 1st bill was $45 (1 yr ago). We thought it was steep, but we paid it. The next was close to $50. Every month it got a little higher. In January, it was $60. We called the office who said someone will come check for leaks. Two months later, they finally checked, there was no leak. The bills kept getting higher. Some of our neighbors were paying about the same and some were paying $15 - $25 (even with a washing machine which we did not have at the time). Just after receiving our last bill ($79), someone came to fix our meter, which they discovered was not working correctly, along with 60 other units. I just called the office to see if we would be reimbursed for over paying, and they said our next bill should be less, but that would be it. And, we still have to pay the $79. If we over paid a minimum of $20 per mo, that's at least $240. I can't afford a lawyer, so what can I do to get my money back?I need legal advice regarding my apartment complex and water bill.?
Websites like FindLaw, LawGuru are some of the free legal advice resources available. More information at http://www.uelp.org/freelegal.htmlI need legal advice regarding my apartment complex and water bill.?
sadly you have no case. you should have asked for the meter to be checked sooner. thats the risk we take. our complex also does water meters and it clearly states in the lease if you think its to high ask for your meter to be checked. according to the water bill records you paid for what you used sorry yuor just out the money
what will happen is....you have to pay the 79 but you will receive a credit on your water bill and will get the money back that way. usually the water company will not issue a refund cheque just credits your bill
Write a letter and mail it to them detailing what happened. Send it by certified mail. Then report them to the BBB www.bbb.org, they may be helpful.

You can also call the local news and tell them the story. If a lot of people get together you may get better results than fighting them alone.
Keep complaining, when you call their office ALWAYS demand to speak to a boss or supervisor. You should be reimbursed for that money. If that fails you can always go to small claims court..and u wouldnt have to pay for a lawyer.

I need legal advice about my children?

I just found out that my children my 5 and 6 year olds were being sexually abused by my neighbors 8year old son. I have gotten them into couseling and have filed a ploice report. but i need to know if i can take the parents to court because they were supposed to be babysitting my children when all this happened. What can i do?I need legal advice about my children?
You can take anyone to court. But you may be ill advised to do so -- at least without mature consideration -- for a couple of reasons. I shall explain.

-- Nobody under the age of 10 can have the mens rea sufficient for criminal liability.

-- Whether the parents are ';responsible'; for what happened is an open question. If they were unlicensed and unpaid, they will deny everything and you will be put to the proof.

-- I recall a case where a teenage boy -- older than 12 anyway -- molested a Downs syndrome girl of the neighbors. He was arrested and sent to an institution. When he came out he was required to register as sex offender or pervert. But he couldn't be made to move, and his parents wouldn't move. The neighbors wanted to sell up and move away, but the fact that a registered sex offender lived next door made their hosue unsalable. THEY were financially punished for HIS crime. (Never mind that offender registration makes little sense where an offense is unlikely to be repeated; the registration laws are inflexible.)

-- Your neighbors' household insurance will pay for their lawyer. Who will pay for yours?

That said, this is a terrible thing to happen, and I hope (and believe) your children will get over it. In fact, when abuse is by others close in age it seems to be less damaging than when it is by an adult.

An afterthought: The case of Raoul, the Swiss boy in Colorado accused of interfering with his younger sister, illustrates the unintended consequences that can happen. The family was advised by the Swiss Embassy's lawyers to abandon Raoul -- taken to court in shackles -- and return to Switzerland lest their other children be taken into care. The did that, and prosecution became impossible. They sent Raoul to Switzerland alone to rejoin his family. (For some time the Swiss Embassy had an explanatory note on its Web site, pointing out that prosecution in such cases is impossible in Europe, where his case (and your children's) would be a social services concern and not a judicial one.)

I think it unwise, and I will not, draw any conclusions from your statement of facts. My only aim is to point out how justice can escape you, and the victim can be further penalized. Assuming that, unlike the McMartin and Shetlands cases, the abuse was genuine in the first place. (I have been in the position of a parent having to decide the meaning of a child's improbable account. (The daughter in question is now 22 and a med student, so it's a moot point today.)I need legal advice about my children?
What happened to the 8 year old pervert? I would ask social services what your next step should be. That 8 yr old needs to be handled. You should not have to go through a court case for this.
Go and see the D.A.

He/she may take the case and will prosecute for you. As victims your children will be may be entitled to restitution for any monies you have already spent for their therapy as well as money for future therapy. You may also get additional funds.

You can also file a civil suit. You may want to get your own atty.
Let the criminal prosecution go through with the police and DA's office and yes you can file a civil suit against the parents.
definetly get social services involved, if he sexually assulted your children who's to say he has not done it to others? Or will continue to do it. Also, 9 out of 10 children who abuse other children have been abused themselves, this child needs help.Maybe something is going on it that childs house that needs to be investigated.
Prepubescent abusers are acting from either exploration and experimentation or from the fact that they are being or have been abused themselves. Overactive sexual activities at 8 more than likely indicate that the child himself is abused since most sexual exploration at that age consists of the ';you show me yours, I'll show you mine'; play that happens with kids.

Convoluted Legal Advice regarding Restraining Orders?

Can my 17yr old girlfriend's dad get a restraining order against me, over 18, against her will in the state of Georgia. He absolutely hates me and has flown off the handle threatening all kinds of legal action. I think he's bluffing and doesn't have a leg to stand on, since I haven't done anything and my girlfriend loves, but I want to see what recourse either of us has.Convoluted Legal Advice regarding Restraining Orders?
the only thing he can do is keep you away from his houseConvoluted Legal Advice regarding Restraining Orders?
Restraining order probably isn't likely But he can ban you from his house, if you step one foot in there after he's made it clear you're not welcome, then you are setting your self up for a trip to jail for trespassing.

You do not have any recourse. She is a minor and still lives in his house. Her will doesn't matter in the least. He can dictate who she can date and who she can't. If she doesn't like that, she can find her own place to live on her 18th birthday.

Dui faulup i need legal name or advice for what to say to judge on this certain faulup?

i was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving. this night it was daylight savings and for some reason that fauled up all 4 countys alchohol level tested so i was never fully tested and was still charged with a dui.. whats any legal advice or the legal name of the arguement i can present before a judge?Dui faulup i need legal name or advice for what to say to judge on this certain faulup?
You will have to appear before a judge to be formally charged and ask to enter a plea of , guilty or not guilty. If you plead guilty the judge may let you off with time served, a fine %26amp; an ';education'; program that also will cost . You would proably be looking at hundreds of dollars. (maybe thousands). If you plead not guilty, the judge will give you a court date to present your case. Hopefully you will have lawyer by then. By all means seek the help of legal aid. The cost of a DUI will take months, if not years to recover, not to mention an arrest record. A lawyer can request the police report used to arrest you %26amp; advise you the best way to proceed. I hope you can beat the ';rap'; %26amp; hope you learned a lesson about drinking %26amp; driving.Dui faulup i need legal name or advice for what to say to judge on this certain faulup?
Can't see what daylight savings time has to do with this. What do you mean ';fully tested';? If they gave you any testing, that's enough.

If they gave you no testing, that's enough, if the officer's testimony is convincing.

Get a lawyer. You really need one.
You must get an attorney who specializes in motor vehicle law immediately! Do not say anything to anyone except your attorney.

Legal advice needed for federal inmate with whistleblower information. ?

Federal inmate has information regarding serious stock fraud. Wants to use information to negotiate house arrest until information is corroborated and then negotiate release and immunity. Should they go directly to FBI? What steps should they take to ensure successful negotiation. What pitfalls are there that they should be aware of before deciding to go this route?

Thank you so much!Legal advice needed for federal inmate with whistleblower information. ?
If they have probative information they should approach the prosecuting attorney hopefully through their attorney, if they do not have an attorney then during consultation they can offer the information for a better deal.~

  • Legal advice: Can a person sue a company because of false advertising in a commercial?

Yes you can but there are somethings you need to be aware of...you need to read any small disclaimers on the commercals and listen to the wording becaseu some false claims can really turn out not to be false by the wording they use...just misleading to the public who views it only in passing and dosen't take in all the information like the small print...so I'd get a consult and make sure you had a case before you did anythingLegal advice: Can a person sue a company because of false advertising in a commercial?
yes providing you can proove the false advertising

harmed you.Legal advice: Can a person sue a company because of false advertising in a commercial?
definitely, you just have to prove it and be able to back yourself up if someone objects to what you have to say. the company can also get fined up to millions.
Blatent false advertising that causes a real misrepresentation of the product or harms someone, yes. Otherwise most commercials take great liberties with the truth and that is just expected. You would be hard-pressed to sue and win on that account.
yeah but then they make you show your p u s s y to the judge
Why would you want to? Just don't buy from the company. Stupid sue-happy people.
It depends on what the contract says whether it would be worth it. You need to have proof of loss to you.
Yes. Good luck winning your case though.
Yes, you can sue anyone if you have enough money.
Yes. Recently someone sued a local car dealer for false or misrepresented advertising and they won.
If you can prove that the ad is false, sure. But, can you afford to?
You must prove you were damaged by the allegedly false advertising.
    sure. but why?
you sue anyone for anything, its just whether you will win or not, but if its not possible to win, i doubt a lawyer would even take on the case
I believe so, but you might want to conversate with an attorney first to be sure!
You have to have really good proof or a really good lawyer but it can be done
YES! If you are a liberal who gets off on ';sticking it to businesses'; then by all means! Be sure to lie and say how it ruined your life and caused your children trauma and etc. Enjoy your illgotten money!
