';compartmentalization of ethics'; explains it all, there is the real ';truth'; and there is the professional ';truth';. In other words, you can only be immoral, if your profession requires it. That's why tehy also call lawyers ';whores of teh legal profession';. The other oldest profession is far more honorable :DShould lawyers provide moral and ethical guidance to clients, in addition to legal advice and representation?
Do you personally know any lawyers that are ethical?
Perry Mason was a fictional character.
As a general rule no. Lawyers are not mental health counselors. Many lawyers have problems of their own, what makes them experts at giving moral and ethical advice to anyone? That's like asking Donald Trump for the name of his hairdressor. You want your hair looking like that?
