I picked up my car from an auto shop today and not only was I charged more than my initial estimate, there was a HUGE crack running across my windshield that was not there when I left it. The auto shop owner/manager (whatever he is) says that the crack was there. I have pictures of my car before I left it at the shop. NO CRACK. What can I do?Can someone give me some legal advice, PLEASE?
Get an estimate for the damage done and take him to small claims court. Also in a majority of states the mechanic CANNOT perform the job until he/she determines the exact cost and advises the consumer. An estimate is exactly that. An estimate. I would also contact your states Department of Consumer Affairs, as well as, The Better Business Bureau (not for the cracked window) and file a complaint on the grounds of price gouging and unfair business practices.
