Where can I get free legal advice on child custody?

My sisters baby's father just got out of jail from a 1 year served of 3 years. His name is not on the birth certificate but he want's to be able to take the child on unsupervised visits. Can he do this and how may we stop this. He is a bad person %26amp; should not be able to even see the child in our opinion.Where can I get free legal advice on child custody?
ask your local dhs. but no he has to have DNA test she can say he is not the dad to by sometime untell she can get legal help. the local cops can tell her what the law is in her town/state.Where can I get free legal advice on child custody?
There is not much you can do. Your sister on the other hand is the mother of the child and has much more legal authority/obligation to protect the child and ask for the courts restriction on the fathers visitation. She should either tell the father that he is not the father or get a restraining order to bar contact.

If the guy does get visitation, make sure he also gets child support imposed by the court too.
call your local courthouse, ask to speak to the domestic relations section.
Free legal advised can be get through your legal aid office, but if he can prove that he is the father he may get rights but dont worry if u can prove that he is not capable of taking care they ma give supervised visitation unless he did something real bad, all this cost a lot of money for the guys, since they have to pay fro the dna test the lawyer if u can prove that you have low income u can get free help from the state so check it out.
google 'child custody' and it should give you many options after that.
Most cities have a legal aide program, look in your phone book. He can't just come take the baby, especially if his name isn't on the birth certificate. If he does try, call the authorities.
YOU DO NOT OPEN TEH DOOR WHEN HE COMES.... CALL CHILD SUPPORT SERVICES AND SINCE TEHRE IS N NAME ON TEH CERTIFICATE THEY WILL DENY VISITS PENDING PATERNITY TESTING, THEN AFER COURT TEHY ORDER TEST AND DETERMINE PARENTAGE OF CHILD. WHEN IT SATES HE IS TEH FATHER SHE WILL AHVE ALREADY TOLD TEH CHILD SUPPORT DISTRIC ATTORNEY THAT THEY APPOINT TO HER AND SHE WILL THEN HAVE THEM TALK W JUDGE ABOUT SUPERVISED VISITS. THE COURT HAS THE CHOICE TO SEND PARENT TO CLASSES OR REHAB WHATEVER AND THEN THEY WILL VISIT W A SOCAIL WORKER SUPERVBISION UNLESS SHE TRUSTS MAYBE A FAMILY MEMEBER TO BE SUPERVISING HIM OR HER. IT WILL ALL WORK OT TEH CHILD SUPPORT NUMBER IS 5035200.
MOST TOWNS HAVE FREE LEGAL AID--look in yellow pages
You need to be more specific. But you can start by looking n the yellow pages under Attorney or Lawyer or just go to the county court house and ask the first person you see wearing suit, tie, brief case and well cared for shoes.
You can talk to a court appointed lawyer in your state. You can even get advice from social services. If these don't work for you search the yellow pages in your town for a lawyer that does free consultations. Good Luck
