I need legal advice regarding my apartment complex and water bill.?

Our office receives our water bill and then bills us. Our 1st bill was $45 (1 yr ago). We thought it was steep, but we paid it. The next was close to $50. Every month it got a little higher. In January, it was $60. We called the office who said someone will come check for leaks. Two months later, they finally checked, there was no leak. The bills kept getting higher. Some of our neighbors were paying about the same and some were paying $15 - $25 (even with a washing machine which we did not have at the time). Just after receiving our last bill ($79), someone came to fix our meter, which they discovered was not working correctly, along with 60 other units. I just called the office to see if we would be reimbursed for over paying, and they said our next bill should be less, but that would be it. And, we still have to pay the $79. If we over paid a minimum of $20 per mo, that's at least $240. I can't afford a lawyer, so what can I do to get my money back?I need legal advice regarding my apartment complex and water bill.?
Websites like FindLaw, LawGuru are some of the free legal advice resources available. More information at http://www.uelp.org/freelegal.htmlI need legal advice regarding my apartment complex and water bill.?
sadly you have no case. you should have asked for the meter to be checked sooner. thats the risk we take. our complex also does water meters and it clearly states in the lease if you think its to high ask for your meter to be checked. according to the water bill records you paid for what you used sorry yuor just out the money
what will happen is....you have to pay the 79 but you will receive a credit on your water bill and will get the money back that way. usually the water company will not issue a refund cheque just credits your bill
Write a letter and mail it to them detailing what happened. Send it by certified mail. Then report them to the BBB www.bbb.org, they may be helpful.

You can also call the local news and tell them the story. If a lot of people get together you may get better results than fighting them alone.
Keep complaining, when you call their office ALWAYS demand to speak to a boss or supervisor. You should be reimbursed for that money. If that fails you can always go to small claims court..and u wouldnt have to pay for a lawyer.
